Can you believe it? The final post-wedding celebration after Slovakia and Serbia. Actually, it was a really nice and low-key getogether, mostly with friends from my home church in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany. Dorien - bless her heart - helped organize everything, which was great. Several people brought yummy cakes along, and there were also snacks, coffee and tea provided. Personally, I thought it was great for our church to have a nice social outside of any specific church events. Udo helped with the technical side of things by ensuring that the music was in place and the presentations were running. By the way, my brother Paul presented a few quizzes about Alenka and I. I'll post the questions later on. Lisa from Sweden performed a rendition of a Swedish love song which was played at the royal wedding last year. And Dorien also introduced some of us to the art of jazz dancing...or so I think it was. I didn't make it look graceful but it was entertaining. All in all, it was a nice, uncomplicated evening...just as we wanted it to be. Of course the clean-up took a bit longer, but that's another story ;-) Many thanks for the congratulations, cards, generous gifts and the great time together.

Kaum zu glauben, aber nun ist auch unsere letzte Hochzeitsnachfeier vorueber. Erst Slowakei, dann Serbien, und nun in meiner Heimatgemeinde, der FeG, in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Es war ein schoener, unkomplizierter Nachmittag mit Freunden zumeist aus der Kirche. Dorien - welch Engel - hat sehr viel vor Ort organisiert, was toll war. Dazu brachten viele Leute leckeren Kuchen, und auch Kaffee, Tee und Snacks wurden serviert. Ich persoenlich fand es sehr schoen, mal ein formloses Treffen unter Gemeindemitgliedern gehabt zu haben. Das gibt es schliesslich auch nicht oft. Udo half bei der Technik aus, sodass alle Praesentationen und die Hintergrundmusik reibungslos verlief. Uebrigens hat mein Bruder Paul die Moderation fuer den Quiz ueber Alenka und mich uebernommen. Mehr zum Quiz kommt in Kuerze. Unsere Schwedin Lisa spielte ein schwedisches Liebeslied vor, das sogar auf der koeniglichen Hochzeit im vorigen Jahr gespielt wurde. Und zum Schluss zeigte uns Dorien, wie man den Jazz-Dance tanzt...aber vielleicht war es ein anderer Tanz? Zumindest habe ich meine fehlende Eleganz mit unterhaltsamen Bewegungen ausgeglichen ;-) Es war alles in allem eine wirklich schoene Feier, weil unkompliziert...genau so wie wir es uns gewuenscht hatten. Nur das Aufraeumen hat etwas gedauert, aber das ist ja eine andere Geschichte. ;-) Vielen herzlichen Dank euch allen fuer die Glueckwuensche, Karten, grosszuegige Geschenke und die tolle Zeit miteinander.

Happy New Year! Frohes Neues Jahr!

So now the new year has begun and it's almost a week old. I hope you all are doing well, and that you'll especially be experiencing our Father's provision in countless ways. The last year was definitely a wild ride in some respect, but more than anything else, God showed me his fingerprints in my life and that He is the one in charge. And I know that hard times also come, but right now I'm feeling at home and am very thankful for all His blessings.

Soon I'll post some photos of the post-wedding celebration but the computer I'm typing on doesn't accept my digital camera card, so I'll have to post them on the weekend instead. But what I can offer you now is a link to my sending agency, the German Missionary Fellowship DMG. Last summer during my furlough I was asked to moderate the youth missions event called Jumi-Night 2010. Now I'm not a pro-moderator in any form, but together with my colleague Julia, it was actually quite a bit of fun!

For those who don't speak German, at least there are some photos to check out :-) In brief, around 450 youth and young adults from around the region visited the youth missions night with a local worship band (that was quite excellent, I must say) and a message from a pastor as well as from a missionary to the Middle East. Furthermore, there was some very encouraging input from visitors who shared their testimonies. Great evening. Powerful message. The team of short-term missions workers were also introduced to the audience.

Nun hat das neue Jahr begonnen, und es ist fast schon eine Woche alt. Ich hoffe, dir geht's gut und dass du ganz besonders unser Vater im Himmel auf unzaehliger Art und Weise spuerst. Das letzte Jahr war wirklich erlebnisreich, aber mehr als alles andere hat mir Gott seine "Fingerabdruecke" in meinem Leben sichtbar werden lassen. Er ist tatsaechlich der Chef und das ist gut sich zu verinnerlichen. Natuerlich kommen immer wieder schwierige Zeiten, aber derzeit geht es mir wirklich gut und ich bin gerade sehr dankbar fuer all den Segen.

Bald stelle ich Fotos von meiner Nach-hochzeitsfeier auf diese Seite, nur jetzt hocke ich gerade vor einem anderen Computer, der meine Speicherkarte des Digicams nicht annimmt. Von daher wird es erst am Wochenende neue Fotos geben. Aber jetzt kann ich dir zumindest einen Link der DMG, meiner Aussendungsgesellschaft, posten. Letzten Sommer wurde ich waehrend meines Reisedienstes gebeten, den Jugendmissionsabend, genannt Jumi-Night 2010, zu moderieren. Nun bin ich wirklich kein geborener Moderator, aber zusammen mit meiner Kollegin Julia hat es tatsaechlich Spass gemacht.

Es kamen ca. 450 Jugendliche und junge Erwachsene, was klasse war. Worship Musik von einer tollen Band, eine gute Predigt, sowie Zeugnisse von einem Missionar aus dem Mittleren Osten, als auch vom Publikum, haben den Abend wirklich bereichert. Und die Kurzzeitmissionare, Shortis genannt, wurden auch dem Publikum vorgestellt. Alles in allem, ein bemerkenswerter Abend.
